"The excessive masses of paint expressed through Matière, extending beyond the square canvas, prompt questions about the relationship between the canvas and paint, creating an unfamiliar situation in the realm of painting. The paint masses, exceeding the boundaries of the square frame, redefine the existence of the canvas, which has hitherto served as a window guiding illusionistically into the captured images. We are no longer merely observing the world contained within it; instead, we witness the material state of the canvas itself as a sculptural tool of the square."
“사각의 캔버스 화면을 넘어버린 마띠에르로 표현된 과도한 물감 덩어리는 회화의 매체인 캔버스와 물감의 관계가 만드는 낯선 상황으로 인해 회화에 대한 질문을 던진다. 사각틀을 벗어난 물감 덩어리는 지금까지 이미지를 담아 일루젼으로 이끄는 창이었던 캔버스의 존재를 사각의 조형도구로 새롭게 인식시킨다. 우리는 더이상 그 안에 담긴 세계를 보는것이 아니라 캔버스라는 물질의 상태. 그 자체를 목격한다.”
